137 years ago today, April 8, 1886 —

“Mr. Laughlin has gotten through several pretty new filled-in decorations for his 'Shakespeare' dinnerware line in white granite which are of the nature of little vine-like twigs, with very elegant flowers, all painted in subdued colors -- nothing gaudy or loud -- all neat, artistic and quiet. We did not think to inquire what they call these new decorations, but they have them now in stock in the glost warehouse in considerable quantities. Mr. Laughlin reports his white granite trade as quite good -- especially so on Shakespeare dinner and tea ware...”
